Hand in Pocket

July 7th, 2011 by Ron

Hand in Pocket is located in Smyrna, GA and is a sophisticated clothing retailer that follows the latest trends in fashion and offers a unique mix of merchandise. The boutique is run by Mona Ariza, a savvy businesswoman who founded the boutique in 2006 with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and a unique shopping experience. With a successful retail business it was only natural to enter into the online side of retail. Mona went on to get her initial online store up and found that she was unhappy with its design and function and being the smart business person knew that she needed a professional firm that could deliver on this.

CUSTOM WEBSITE DESIGN & LAYOUT:

We started everything from scratch except for the identity since it had already been established and was recognizable to the previous customer base. We came up with a custom design and layout that featured everything that the previous site was lacking and was able to engage and interact with customers visually with what was currently going on in store.

E-COMMERCE DEVELOPMENT

We utilized the Magento e-commerce platform system because it is a great open platform system that is very flexible and has a ton of features as well as a pretty big community behind it. Whatever type of product you may have, Magento has a solution as well as the ability to manage additional site pages through the content managed blocks feature which allows for full control of your e-commerce site. There is pretty much nothing that Magento can’t do. From the free Community Edition on up to the Enterprise Edition there is plenty of room to grow.

CUSTOM BLOG DESIGN & INTEGRATION

The client wanted to incorporate a blog into the site so that they could interact with their customers on all sorts of topics. We took the approved design layout and created a custom theme for WordPress so that the user could not tell that they were leaving the store and going to a totally different platform. The custom WordPress theme provided a seamless experience for visitors.

EMAIL MARKETING

Every successful business knows that getting the store in place is the first step and what comes next is a marketing campaign to drive customers to your business. We design all of the email marketing to coincide with the look and feel of the website so customers can identify with the brand.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

Last but not least is SEO or Search Engine Optimization. There are lots of companies out there that can promise you the world when it comes to getting your site ranked on the first page of a search. While that is a great sales pitch you will soon read the small writing that says that they only guarantee that you will be on the first page if they are searching for you by name. The truth is that good SEO is a calculated campaign that if done right and coupled with the social networking side of things will yield great results in future clients that are able to find your business online.

Remote Photoshop control?

May 9th, 2011 by Brian

An update to Photoshop allows mobile app developers to “connect” remotely to Photoshop.. things should get pretty interesting soon.

The 12.0.4 update enables specially designed apps on tablets, smartphones, and PCs to communicate with and control interaction with Photoshop CS5 (Located in the File menu: Remote Connections). Now you can be creative on other devices and instantly incorporate what you create into Photoshop. You must install the 12.0.4 update to activate a remote connection between Photoshop CS5 and any apps that Adobe or third-party developers create to interact with Photoshop. These apps will be available in the future on the App Store.
