Hand in Pocket

Thursday, July 7th, 2011 by Ron

Hand in Pocket is located in Smyrna, GA and is a sophisticated clothing retailer that follows the latest trends in fashion and offers a unique mix of merchandise. The boutique is run by Mona Ariza, a savvy businesswoman who founded the boutique in 2006 with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and a unique shopping experience. With a successful retail business it was only natural to enter into the online side of retail. Mona went on to get her initial online store up and found that she was unhappy with its design and function and being the smart business person knew that she needed a professional firm that could deliver on this.

- Enter Joint Medias.

CUSTOM WEBSITE DESIGN & LAYOUT:

We started everything from scratch except for the identity since it had already been established and was recognizable to the previous customer base. We came up with a custom design and layout that featured everything that the previous site was lacking and was able to engage and interact with customers visually with what was currently going on in store.

E-COMMERCE DEVELOPMENT

We utilized the Magento e-commerce platform system because it is a great open platform system that is very flexible and has a ton of features as well as a pretty big community behind it. Whatever type of product you may have, Magento has a solution as well as the ability to manage additional site pages through the content managed blocks feature which allows for full control of your e-commerce site. There is pretty much nothing that Magento can’t do. From the free Community Edition on up to the Enterprise Edition there is plenty of room to grow.

CUSTOM BLOG DESIGN & INTEGRATION

The client wanted to incorporate a blog into the site so that they could interact with their customers on all sorts of topics. We took the approved design layout and created a custom theme for WordPress so that the user could not tell that they were leaving the store and going to a totally different platform. The custom WordPress theme provided a seamless experience for visitors.

EMAIL MARKETING

Every successful business knows that getting the store in place is the first step and what comes next is a marketing campaign to drive customers to your business. We design all of the email marketing to coincide with the look and feel of the website so customers can identify with the brand.

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

Last but not least is SEO or Search Engine Optimization. There are lots of companies out there that can promise you the world when it comes to getting your site ranked on the first page of a search. While that is a great sales pitch you will soon read the small writing that says that they only guarantee that you will be on the first page if they are searching for you by name. The truth is that good SEO is a calculated campaign that if done right and coupled with the social networking side of things will yield great results in future clients that are able to find your business online.

Cosumnes Services District

The Challenge

The Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) provides fire protection services to the cities of Elk Grove and Galt, as well as unincorporated areas in the region. Additionally, the Cosumnes CSD provides parks and recreation services to the Elk Grove community.

The CSD website was confusing in terms of content layout and navigation.  They also had no way of organizing their members, class schedules or events.  Joint Medias was brought on to redesign the website, develop a custom content management system and implement member and calendar.

The Results

The new CSD website had a big impact around the community and allowed the organization to increase their service options by gaining more members. Joint Medias designed a user-friendly interface complete with multi-level navigation, site-wide search functions, an online activity guide and much more.

Joint Medias also developed a full, large scale calendar in which CSD can manage events and event registration.  Joint also scaled the calendar down to fit on all pages.  JavaScript and AJAX was used to add interactivity to the calendar.

Nfinit Solutions / Home Retention Advantage

The Challenge

Nfinit Solutions is a subsidiary of the Nehemiah Corporation of America, one of the most trusted names in the real estate industry.  Nehemiah has served as a catalyst for economic empowerment and wealth creation by expanding opportunities for responsible homeownership, affordable housing, and community revitalization.

In 2008 after the housing market collapsed, Nfinit wanted to reposition itself as a leader in “Home Retention” services.  Their objective was to pair this latest business model with new branding and a fresh online presence.  There were 4 goals that needed to be accomplished: a new brand identity, a new corporate website, a “Home Retention” website and clear separation online for both business partners and homeowners. They also needed to manage the content on both websites, coinciding with their real marketing efforts.

The Results

Joint Medias created a modern, conceptual logo for Nfinit Solutions.  Their identity was expanded with style guides containing multiple color palettes and layout options.  This new identity was integrated into both the corporate and “Home Retention” website designs.  Both websites implement advanced user interface components, search capabilities and dynamic content.  Joint Medias also developed an interactive administration panel allowing content to be shared between websites, members to be tracked and components to be managed.   The “Home Retention” website was developed with two user profiles in mind, the business partner and the homeowner.  Each section has its own features and content.

With the industry scrambling to turn around, Nfinit had the entire project on a timeline of two months.  Joint Medias was able to complete everything in time and Nfinit has since maintained their industry leadership.
